How to Cook the Perfect Steak

 There are few things finer in life than a perfectly cooked steak. This sirloin preps in under 3 minutes, cooks in less than 15, and is great fuel for your workout. Tender and flavorful, this steak is perfect for lunch or dinner.

Steakhouse-Style Sirloin

Olive oil, salt and pepper come together to make the perfect steakhouse sirloin.

Ingredients

  • 4 6-oz. sirloin steaks (approx. 1 inch thick)
  • extra virgin olive oil
  • pepper
  • seasoning salt
  • adobo seasoning
  • 1/4 tablespoon butter

Directions

Step 1
Rub olive oil onto both sides of steak.
Step 2
Generously cover steaks with pepper.
Step 3
Lightly season with salt and adobo.
Step 4
Heat a large, oven-safe pan on the stove, using medium-high heat.
Step 5
Place steaks into hot pan.
Step 6
After two minutes, flip the steaks.
Step 7
After two more minutes, turn the heat off. Dot the steaks with a sliver of butter.
Step 8
Place the pan into an oven, preheated to 375 degrees.
Step 9
Remove steaks after 2-3 minutes. For well-done steaks, cook another 1-3 minutes, depending on the thickness of the steak.
Step 10
Let rest 5 minutes. (Preferably under aluminum foil.) Serve!

    Ever since I saw this recipe I’ve been using it for all my steaks. A little tip for people who don’t have an all-metal skillet (don’t judge!): when you preheat your oven put a baking pan in there as it’s heating. Then just transfer them out of the frying pan into the already hot baking pan. I’ve found I need to add a couple minutes onto the oven cooking time this way to get the steaks to medium but it turns out well in the end.
